Sparkly Eye Trend: One of our favorite beauty looks ever are shimmery eyes. Not only are they super trendy for fall, but they’re a welcome shot of glamour after summer’s no-makeup makeup look. Luckily, anyone can pull it off. Whether you’re shy about shimmer or want to dive right in by going full disco ball, there is an easy way to, ahem, put a twinkle in your eye. We asked makeup artist Rommy Najor to create three different levels of glittery eyes, each getting more intense, using just a few Revlon gems. It’s your time to shine.
3 New Ways to Wear The Sparkly Eye Trend
Yes, it’s possible for makeup minimalists to rock glitter, says Najor. Just keep it to a small area, like your eyes. The easiest option is highlighting just the inner corners of your eyes, or as Najor calls it — eye strobing. For the most flattering hue, “choose a shade that’s lighter than your skin tone to mimic the look of a pearl highlighter,” Najar says. He recommends silver or pale gold for light to medium skin tones, and rich golds and bronzes for deeper skin tones.Revlon PhotoReady Eye Art Lid + Line + Lash (shown here in Burnished Bling) offers a foolproof way to add a touch of barely-there brilliance. Keep the rest of your lids unadorned save for a few swipes of mascara like Revlon Ultimate All-in-One Waterproof Mascara.
Make your classic smoky eye look extra luxe with jewel tones. Start by choosing two eyeshadow shades in the same color family. Revlon PhotoReady Primer, Shadow + Sparkle palette helps take the guesswork out of matching with its matte and sparkly shadow combos. We chose the Eclectic palette for its especially eye-catching blue-green shades.”Press the matte shade close along your upper lashline with a flat brush for more color saturation,” Najor says. Blend out towards your crease for a soft smolder, and then add the shimmering shade to just the center of your lids for major shine.
Go ahead, shine bright like a diamond. Normally applying glitter leads to a sparkly fallout all over your face, but Revlon PhotoRead Eye Art Lid + Line + Lash’s liquid formula ensures it stays put all night long. Just smooth the shimmer from lids to crease — we did two layers of Lilac Luster, but you can try three if you’re feeling dramatic. The trick to keeping glitter from becoming goopy is to wait at least a minute between layers, just like how you’d wait between coats of mascara, Najor says.Trace along your lower lids with a complementary shade (we used Revlon PhotoReady Eye Art Lid + Line + Lash in Fuchsia Flash). If doubling down on the dazzle isn’t enough for you, up the ante by extending the liner past your outer corner to form a flashy feline flick. Finish with mascara and you’re brilliant.
